Girls' Movie & Dinner at Tryon Theater
Thursday Sept. 3 at 2:30 (Matinee)
Playing: The Invite

Meet: 1:45 at the South End of Ingles Parking Lot if you want to carpool or just meet at the Tryon Theater.
Join us for an afternoon movie followed by an early dinner at Brooks Tavern. We will be seeing The Invite, starring Seth Rogan, Penelope Cruz and Olivia Wilde.
Dinner following the movie around 4:30 at Brooks Tavern (walking distance)
Tickets for the show are $12.00 and go on sale online 10 days prior. Stongly recommend to buy tickets in advance online as they often sell out and cannot be purchased at the door.

Birding Walk- 2 events this month!
Tuesday Sept. 8
Jackson Park in Hendersonville (favorite spot for Warblers!)
Meet up at Ingles in Lake Lure to carpool at 7:45am
The Drive: about 40 min
Duration: Plan for 4 hours total time
The Location: very easy to walk trail system with some paved and some flat terrain.
What to bring: pack a lunch/snack, water, bug spray, camera, binoculars, sunscreen and a hat.
Happy September!! The heart of Migration begins this month. Perhaps we will see Chestnut-sided Warblers, Vieros, Blue Wing or Blackburnian just to name a few!!

Location: Dittmer Watts across from Ingles
Meet: 8 am
Duration: plan for 2.5 hours total
What to bring: snack, water, bug spray, sunscreen, camera, binoculars and a hat
Expect some mildly sloped hiking trails and paved paths.

Vista Seekers Hike
Wednesday, September 16
Black Balsam Knob/Tennent Mtn.
Moderately Challenging (more so if you go all the way to Tennent Mtn.)

Time: 9:00 am
Location: parking lot of the Lake Lure Inn
Duration: 2 hour drive to Black Balsam Knob parking lot
Details: We will be hiking on the Art Loeb Trail for an out and back trek, reaching Black Balsam Knob first. If you choose to end you hike here, this is a 1.4 round trip with an elevation gain of 357 ft which takes 45 minutes or so depending on how long you stop at the top. This is a "bald" hike so views are beautiful throughout the hike but keep in mind this also means exposure to sun, wind or rain. The elevation is 6,214 ft so temps could be cool.
For those that want to continue to Tennent Mtn from Black Balsam Knob, this will increase the hike to a total of 3.8 miles with an elevation gain of 780 ft, taking 2-3 hours to complete.
Bring a lunch and plenty of water, wear layers and bring a raincoat.

Looking for something unforgettable? Join our fellow club members for a guided ride this fall through the woods and a one-of-a-kind experience- horseback riding in the river! Get ready to splash through the water as you explore the gentle curves and bends of the river. After leaving the water, the adventure continues with a scenic mountain trail leading to a breathtaking view of Bald Mountain, surrounded by stunning peaks and valleys. As your ride circles back into the river, you'll have time to relax, soak in the scenery and enjoy the peaceful rhythm of the water. Be sure to dress for the weather and wear long pants, loose fitting clothing and closed-toe shoes. Age and weight limits: 16 or older and <240 lbs.
